Sometimes you read an article and go “hmm, ok…”, not thinking it was that interesting. Well, maybe not uninteresting, but, you know, something you read and forget about.
And days later you find yourself mulling over said article, and you realise that it is having an impact on your life, making you act differently – or thing differently.
This is one of those articles. When I was a student, I took notes obsessively when I read. I filled in notebooks. I was good at it. Nowadays, I trust my mind to keep remember roughly what I’ve read and when and where, and the Powah of Search and Google to help me find it again should I need it.
More and more, this technique fails me. Specially when I’m listening to more and more podcasts.
I now have a running document where I jot down things I’ve listened to and read, along with a few notes. Not “doing it right” by any standard, but better than nothing – and a practice that might evolve with time.
