Less than one year after the Sky drafted her fourth overall in the 2019 WNBA draft, forward Katie Lou Samuelson’s time in Chicago has come to an end.
The Sky traded Samuelson and their 2021 first-round pick to the Wings for forward Azura Stevens, the team announced Friday.
Samuelson never really fit in coach James Wade’s system. Last season, Samuelson, whose development was stalled by a wrist injury midway through the season, averaged 2.4 points and 0.9 rebounds in 20 games. She also shot 27.6 percent from three-point range.
“We want to thank Katie Lou for her contributions to our team in Chicago, both on and off the court,” Wade said in a statement. “We believe she will be a great player in this league, and feel that this will give her the opportunity and playing time she deserves.”
