Hey Sports Tech Fans,
All roads lead to NFL Super Bowl Sunday in Los Angeles.
The Metaverse, blockchain and sports betting are hot topics this year and will likely be major talking points of the Super Bowl ads.
FTX will air an ad that will give away millions in Bitcoin to US viewers who download their app as they look to court new users as well as regulators in the US.
1 in 4 US adults are expected to place a bet on the Super Bowl as the event looks set to break records for total amount bet on a single event in the US.
NFL is far and away the biggest betting sport in the US and with new states like New York being fully regulated it is no surprise that this Sundays event will break records.
New York set a new monthly record of $1.6 billion wagers in its first month of legalised sports betting and with the Super Bowl trending to hit national records, I would expect Januarys total to be matched, if not beaten despite it being a one NFL game month.
Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar and set to play the half time show in Los Angeles so it is expected to be one hell of a spectacle.
The Rams have the opportunity for the host team to win in their own stadium for the second time in 2 years after the Buccaneers won in Tampa Bay last year.
The Rams are favourites to win the game so I will be rooting for the Bengals who started the season at 100 to 1 odds at the start of the season. Not quite a Leicester City of 5,000 to 1 but they were 29th favourite which is quite some performance to even make the Super Bowl.
Elsewhere in the NFL, regular season games will be heading to Munich next season with Frankfurt hosting a game in 2023.
Tottenham Hotspur are said to be launching a bid to host the Super Bowl in 2026 which would be the first time the Super Bowl would be hosted outside of the US.
Have a great sporting weekend,
