Hey Sports Tech Fans,
The Techstars Sports Tech Indy demo day was held yesterday and it was a great series of pitches from all the companies involved.
Companies pitched across multiple verticals that we cover here on a weekly basis, namely connected fitness, player data, NFT’s, player management, fitness studio management and ecommerce.
Huge congratulations to all involved; Jordan Fliegel & Andrew Hippert the dynamic duo behind the accelerator program.
The startups; Curastory, Flexia, Freeplay, Grind, Kairos, Own The Moment, Launchpad, LegitFit, SportsIcon, PWRFWD and PlayerData.
It is a huge undertaking and even more so during COVID times.
There are so many people involved it is hard to name everyone but the mentors, partners, interns and everyone involved deserve a round of applause and I hope they enjoyed a celebration party after the pitches yesterday.
It was great to see two Irish companies pitch such great products on the world stage and I will be keeping a close eye on Legit Fit & Kairos and their progress into the US market.
All pitches are viewable below in the Youtube video.
A couple of weeks ago I spoke with Tiffany from Curastory.co and was blown away by the team, the product and the deals they have signed.
They help video creators to create, distribute and monetize their video content to multiple platforms, YouTube, IGTV, Facebook Watch and more coming soon.
They embed native advertising in the video. These aren’t just ads inserted into a video but more akin to a podcast ad read where the content creator themselves is delivering the ad.
They have signed up 60 athletes through a deal with the NBA Players association with more interesting deals on the horizon.
They have players like Tyreek Hill using their platform on his YouTube channel as well as 50 other NFL, Olympians and student athletes.
On the other side, they have deals with the likes of Beyond Meat who want to advertise to sports and fitness audiences through video with the help of content creators.
The team is very impressive with Tiffany being a former data scientist at ESPN, Shane their CTO being ex Reddit and Yelp, and their Head of Customer Success Lilliana having excellent experience in content and marketing.
