Hey Sports Tech Fans,
It’s not every week that my home city of Cork, Ireland makes the headlines.
Well, two rowers from the West Cork town of Skibbereen won gold in rowing, which was a first for Ireland in the sport. A tiny town of just 3,000 people developing Gold Medal winners is why the Olympics is such an amazing competition and why it has the eyes of the world on it.
The entire country is immensely proud and they will have a hero’s welcome when they return.
Cork is also in the news for being a potential host for the Americas Cup in 2024 which would be a massive coup for Ireland’s second city.
I lived in San Francisco when it hosted the competition and it was fascinating to see up close.
Cork people will tell you that we have the old yacht club in the world and the second-deepest natural port in the world so we are definitely worth consideration.
Have a great sporting weekend,
Will
