Resetting is important

Am I the only one counting down the dates until Fall? And no Fall isn’t the day after labor day, it’s September 22nd.

Goals for the week
Try Anime-doro!
  • So there is a study/time management technique called Pomodoro. It was created by a guy named Francesco Cirillo back in the 1980s. You basically break up a study session or a task into 25-minute intervals with a 5-minute break in between each session. The word Pomodoro comes from the Italian language and it means tomato. Cirillo used a tomato-shaped timer as a university student which is how the technique got its name.
  • A variation of the technique is called Anime-doro! By a YouTuber and medical student named Josh Chen. Instead of the 25/5 rule, you can split it up to your needs. For me, I will be doing about 50/20. 50 minutes of lesson planning/anything I need to do and 20 minutes of an anime episode. I don’t listen to the OPs so that cuts about 2 minutes off the 23-minute episode plus the end OP which is about a minute or so. There is a ton of anime I am trying to watch and life is short so let’s see if this technique will help me watch more anime while getting things done.
Run a 5k.
  • So running an organized 5k is expensive haha. So instead, I am just going to run a 5k around my neighborhood. So far, I’ve been running 1 to 2 miles when I do run haha so I want to push myself to that 3.1 especially since I can’t use the weather as an excuse anymore. Get outside! Mother nature is trying us well right now with fall-ish weather!
Reset myself for mental clarity.
  • This past weekend, I had a mini-burn-out moment. I just couldn’t bring myself to get anything done. So what did I do to combat that? I just did a mini reset session where I just did the things I wanted like playing video games and watch a copious amount of anime. After a while, I actually felt like being productive and I was. Will this work for everyone? Nah haha, but it works for me and I plan to do that regularly when I feel myself dreading work.
Am I achieving my goals?
I think a lot of people have this weird fantasy that when we set out to achieve something, it will be easy and linear. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. In high school, my goal was to make the district-level honor band. For my first two years of auditioning, I didn’t make it. It hurt a lot more than I’d like to admit but my senior year, I finally made it into the ensemble. Looking back, I never gave up my goal but I had many setbacks that could’ve stopped me. Right now, I feel like I am in my “failure” phase where many of the goals I am setting out for myself aren’t getting anywhere. It’ll be okay though, failure is part of the process. Thanks for reading!
