Shami's Progress
Shami's Progress
Welcome to the first newsletter! My name is Shami Beni and I’m just a guy trying to get the most out of life. Every week, I’ll be writing about the progress I’ve made on some of my goals that I’ve set out to achieve!

Goals for the week
  1. Research for a potential book!
  2. Practice my saxophone or do something musical every day
  3. Post the YouTube video that I already edited.
Book: So I had the idea to write a book about different musician’s routines and life philosophies. I really haven’t told anyone about the idea but I think it’ll be great. I can’t really control whether or not the book will be a best-seller but I can control the amount of time I put into writing and researching for it. I am not sure how to get an editor or how to even get it published in the first place but like everything in life, it is figure-out-able.
Music: During my last semester of college, my practice habits went out the window. The only time I would practice would be the day before my lesson (Sorry Mr. S haha). The summer has been crazy since I moved to DC and I always let resistance get the better of me. Now I am intentionally trying to practice my saxophone every day. My plan B for not being able to play is to practice other musical things such as ear training, singing, saxophone visualization, etc. There is a lot I can do outside of putting the horn in my mouth.
YouTube: I am in the process of starting a series entitled “Practice with me”. During undergrad, I loved using “study with me videos” on YouTube to make studying a little less boring. Practicing can be dull sometimes but practicing with someone else is a lot more interesting! We’ll see how it goes!
Thanks for reading!
