Philippians 1:9 “… in knowledge and all discernment…”
Paul’s letter to the Philippians showed that he had a wonderful relationship with them, which made him thankful to God every time he remembered them in prayer.
Relationships are important. Relationships grow strong when it is based on the knowledge of each other’s likes, interests, fears, dreams, etc.
This is one reason why we at SP strongly advocate facilitating video calls with possible adoptive parents (PAP) matched with an SP child of any age. This helps the child hear the PAP’s voice, accent, inflections, and laughter. At the same time, it benefits the PAP to see their child.
There was one video call where the possible adoptive mother saw the feet of the child, she started crying because, unbeknownst to us, she had counted the toes; a normal thing for a mother to do upon delivery.

A PAP of one of the SP kids joined family devotions through video call. Here they will see how their child participates in singing praise & worship songs, do the actions to the song, hear what is the Bible lesson for that devotion, and hear their child recite the Bible verse for the week.

Samaritan’s Place also holds a license issued by the Inter-Country Adoption Board (ICAB) to serve as a liaison agency. When asked what that entails, our easiest explanation is, “We are the hands & feet of the foreign adoption agency (FAA) in the Philippines.
This allows us to be a part of and see the adoption of children from all over the Philippines.
After being there through the whole process, SP attends the pre-departure video call facilitated by Ms. Lea of ICAB with the family. Like what we tell PAP's of SP kids, "Thank you for opening your heart and your home for your child."

Video calls are also used to restore relationships.
A case conference to discuss a child's case with the child's parent was done with the social workers of Region IVA and Region 3. We so appreciate all the hard work and partnership with other government agencies.

Like Paul we pray, “that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
