Happy December, and what a month it is. Home to both National Violin Day (13th) AND International Cello Day (29th), we’re doing a massive celebration of our violin and cello sections. To start it off, we’ve got Sierra, one of our violinists.

Question 1: Could you tell me a little bit about yourself?
Hi! Born and raised in Ashland, most of my life I’ve lived in the Rogue Valley. I’m married with two Littles under five. I work at a jewelry store and have a home beauty business. Life is always on the go for me!
Question 2: What brought or inspired you to pursue violin? If you’d like to share one of your favorite pieces of music as well, I’d like to know!
I was born into music! My mom is a violinist, my sister is a cellist and opera singer, my grandpa and aunt are pianists, and the list it goes on. Now I’m sharing my passion my kids!
Question 3: What do you enjoy most about being with the Rogue Valley Symphony?
Playing with RVS offers me the sense of time travel! I love playing romantic era music and the feeling that I’m a playing a piece of history.
Question 4: What do you do when you’re not playing music i.e. what are your hobbies or interests?
I love traveling and being outdoors; hiking, swimming, snowboarding. I also enjoy crafting with my children.
Question 5: Finally, one unusual fact, story, or tidbit about you or your instrument?
My violin, Vivian, is just about 20 years young, made by a local luthier and has a unique burl mark on her face.
