By Musician Spotlights • Issue #37 • View online
Our second bonus cello spotlight shines on Manon!

Question 1: Could you tell me a little bit about yourself?
I have been teaching cello since age 12. Was Adjunct Professor at UC Riverside, LMU and three community colleges in Southern California. I moved to So. Oregon to be with family.
Question 2: What brought or inspired you to pursue cello? If you’d like to share one of your favorite pieces of music as well, I’d like to know!
I received piano lessons with my mother at age 6 and went to Chamber Music concerts with her. I loved hearing the cello! Began cello at age 8. The Mozart Requiem is one of my favorite pieces of music.
Question 3: What do you enjoy most about being with the Rogue Valley Symphony?
I love that there is a Symphony here!! I am proud to say that I am a member - and especially since I have been working for over two years as a full time Caregiver for Visiting Angels here in the Valley.
Question 4: What do you do when you’re not playing music i.e. what are your hobbies or interests?
I am building a home here with my brother, and learning how to garden in So. Oregon
Question 5: Finally, one unusual fact, story, or tidbit about you or your instrument?
In 2011 & 2012, a colleague of mine put an orchestra together to perform for the festivities the week of the Royal Wedding & (asked back to London) the Queen’s Jubilee. Our concert program from the Queen’s Jubilee is in the time capsule buried in the palace grounds! (Search Manon Robertshaw and Musique Sur La Mer, Marci Sudock, conductor).
