Not an Easy Rider ⛰ #191

Hey subscribers,
Skipped a few weeks, but haven’t stopped! 2 weeks ago, I took a mini adventure to Newcastle by plane, hired a campervan and travelled to the Kielder Forest to take on a 200km ride.
I did not complete that ride.
Turns out, my eyes were bigger than my cycling legs. 65km later, I rolled into the event centre, dreams crushed and the realisation that there’s a lot of hard work left to do.
“I will be back” I said to a gent in the washroom the next day. He’d been the last 3 years, doing either the 130 or 200km.
When you’re in a leadership position, I think accepting bad news is part of the course. Rarely a day passes with some obstruction, disappointment or disagreement. I’ve actively told myself to care less about work and stick more to defined process.
If I had an easy ride, I’d be bored, I’d complain and moreover - I wouldn’t grow.
Accepting disappointment is part of the course if you set your goals to high - but better too high, than too low and achievable.
