Thank you for joining me in this debut issue.
Here’s a mindset that can help you stay on course when making decisions about your business.
It all has to do with the definition of brand.
There are many perceptions of the word, but THIS one will help frame how you approach all of your marketing…
…your speech, writing, design, offers, ads… everything!
Unfortunately, many solopreneurs lose sight of this when working on their business:
Your Brand = Your Reputation
You don’t own your brand. Your audience does.
You can only do your best to influence how they see you.
“Brand is not what you say it is. It’s what they say it is.” – Marty Neumeier, author of The Brand Gap, The Brand Flip, and Zag
So present yourself and your business in the best way possible…
…to build a positive impression in the minds of others.
How do you earn and maintain a reputation?
- build rapport with your people
- be empathetic and generous
- speak how they speak
- use colors they prefer
- offer a great product
- respond promptly
- stay consistent
🔶 Take Action: Pick Three Words
How do you want people to describe your business to others?
Are you reliable, helpful, approachable, warm, adventurous, fast, fun, friendly, formal, fierce, futuristic, trendy, cool, creative, confident, controversial, offbeat, energetic, mysterious, luxurious, elegant, simple, safe, stylish, sophisticated, innovative, authoritative, rustic, or holistic?
…or something else?
Ingrain your chosen words into your mind.
Everything you do from this point forward should work towards having others see you as such.
When naming your brand, getting a logo, building a website, pitching your services, or designing an ad — you will already have a direction.
See you next Tuesday,
P.S. If you haven’t already, could you take 30 seconds and reply to this email? I’d really love to know: What are you working on? And what’s the biggest challenge you’re currently facing?
I’ll respond to you and give you a specific suggestion you can start implementing in your business right now. Yes, I respond to every email!
(Hitting reply also tells the email gods that you want my emails to land in your inbox and not your promotions or spam folder.)
