Learning together

Body, mind and spirit
For many of us, the pace of life slows a little over the summer, giving us some much needed rest for the body. It can also be an opportunity to feed our minds with something other than the urgent demands placed on it throughout the year.
In the Gospels we are told that the greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. So how could you use this summer to love God with your mind?
How about:
  • Podcasts? Don’t forget all the main sessions and most of the Leadership seminars and Sent seminars from COURAGE are now available to download - you can feed your mind while relaxing your body at the beach!
  • Books? As well as Mike’s book A Way of Life (available in Dutch and English), the Pathways from Poverty team have put together a list of books focused on caring for our broken world, and this list on the website GoodReads contains many books written over the years by authors across the Newfrontiers family of churches.
  • Articles? If you need something shorter than a book, check out the Newfrontiers news page to find out what is happening across the spheres, or for a bit more theological depth, the Think Theology website, with articles from Andrew Wilson and others to get your mental juices flowing.
Identity in Christ
Tom Scrivens and a group of others from Hope Church Ipswich recently attended the “Identity in Christ” conference put on by Living Out - an organisation which aims to help Christian brothers and sisters who experience same-sex attraction stay faithful to biblical teaching on sexual ethics and flourish at the same time.
This is a key issue that faces many in our congregations, and it is important that we make the time and effort to learn about it. The main speakers at the conference were Tim and Kathy Keller, who have pastored many in the midst of these issues over the years. Read Tom’s report to get an insight into what he learned, and visit the Living Out website for more excellent and helpful resources.

Support our family
At the ENOUGH prayer night a couple of weeks ago, we prayed for two new church plants and a need in all our towns and cities: the police. Over the next few weeks we will be sharing their videos (though you can find them all now on our Vimeo page) and their prayer points. First up is Hafen Kirche, Brunsbüttel.

They would value your prayers for:
  • The grace of God over the church, the city and the area
  • For strong leadership
  • Becoming a real family together
Thank you!
