a sane and thoughtful guide to permanent weight loss

I know, the South has done a number on me. But, y'all! I’m excited to finally be launching my subscriptions.
A little FAQ for you:
  • Why should I give you money? Well, I don’t know if you should, but I’d like you to. Producing content takes a sizable chunk of time. Time I need to earn a living. I realize no one asked me to do this, but that’s true of creative work in general. Advertising is another route, but one that will surely affect content. Creating a community of members is the type of socially engaged writing worthy of your time.
  • What do members get? For $7 a month, members will continue to get the weekly digest, the free version will be once a month. Funding will allow me to focus wholeheartedly on this project and make sure the content stays top-notch.
Get your writing in the world, ideally for the money you deserve because writing is work that deserves compensation. But do not worry about being closer to 50 or 65 or 83. Artistic success, in all its forms, is not merely the purview of the young. You are not a late bloomer. You are already blooming.
  • Why are you doing this? I get this question more than any grownup should. It’s usually a cue that I’m doing something nutty and should dial it back a bit. In this case, it worked. You laughed with me, wrote to me to share your stories, and encouraged me to keep going. Thank you. I write because I have to.
  • Is your writing for men or women? Yes. My identity is firmly rooted in being a woman of a certain age, but there is plenty of writing by women, for women. I’m interested in speaking with clarity and humor to anyone wanting to bridge the divide, to peek inside another existence. I claim my perch not to narrow my audience, but because it’s the only experience I can speak to with surety.
We’ve become a culture accustomed to paying for objects and expecting creative work to be free. The result is homes filled to the brim with things, and empty spaces inside of us.
The best stories illuminate a path inside of us.
If my work has delighted you, opened you up, or shifted your understanding on a subject of importance, that’s worth funding.
