Hey you!
It’s been a week. How are you?
I have a question.
Does writing have a reward?
Big question.
If the reward for writing is in the compliments like these;
“You’re such a great writer”
“you’re amazing with words”
Maybe yes.
Or in awards like these;
“1st prize For Best Writer in Literature, Nigeria”
Then yes, there’s a reward for writing.
Another question…
“Should we write because of these reward?”
Well…
Writing for compliments or prizes isn’t bad.
It’s healthy and courageous.
But the truth, not everyone will get a prize.
Not every writer will be recognized.
Does that invalidate your writing?
No.
Your validation as a writer does not come from a prize or an award.
You’re a writer because you write.
Here’s a quote by Rainer Maria
“Go into yourself. Find out the reason that commands you to write; see whether it has spread its roots into the very depths of your heart; confess to yourself whether you would have to die if you were forbidden to write”
Why are you writing?
I dare say that reward for writing is in writing.
Have a great week!
