Ally gets dumped and makes the decision to leave London, taking her ex girlfriend’s cat Malcolm with her back to her Dad’s house in Sheffield. Here she reconnects with childhood friend Jeremy (also gay, also recently dumped) and together they hatch a plan to win their exes back with the help of baked goods and marathon running (obviously).
I absolutely loved this book. It was an absolute joy to read a truly queer romcom, free from any tokenism or thinly drawn stereotypes. The Split is full of laughter and heartwarming moments which delicately reflect so much of the queer experience. Highly recommended.
Laura Kay will be joining us on The Brunch when we return on Sunday 4th April to talk about The Split. Don’t miss it.
