Hello friends, a happy new year to you all! Thanks a lot for your support during 2016 and we hope to see you again in the coming year. This newsletter is a combination of looking back and looking forward. What have we been up to, but first: what are we going to do?
All the best,

2017: Releases
The idea for 2017 is simple: write, record, release, play! Times 4! Get ready for your quarterly dose of Pip, because we want to release 4 singles in the coming year. The first one is ready for release in Q1, produced by Raven Aartsen of Mozes & The First Born fame. We’re proud of it and hope you are going to like it too! When everything goes to plan, the singles will be bundled on a 12" vinyl EP towards the end of the year!
2017: Gigs
The idea for 2017 is even more simple: play, play, play. We love playing live and we want to do that as often as possible. Of course in our own the Netherlands, but we love to meet international friends as well.  Our second UK tour will be in april and is being finalized now, so if you have suggestions or want to book us, drop a line! When in the Netherlands, this is where you can see us in januari and februari:
  • 06-01 Merleyn, Nijmegen (supporting Canshaker Pi)
  • 07-01 De Oefenbunker, Heerlen (supporting Canshaker Pi)
  • 13-01 De Kroeg van Klaas, Groningen
  • 14-01 Friendly Fire Showcase, Groningen
  • 14-01 Platosonic, Groningen
  • 14-01 Noorderslag, Groningen
  • 15-01 Afterslag, Apeldoorn
  • 21-01 Zomerparkfeest wintereditie, Venlo
  • 26-01 Gebroeders De Nobel, Leiden (supporting traumahelikopter)
  • 28-01 De Spot, Middelburg (supporting traumahelikopter)
  • 02-02 Luxor, Arnhem  (supporting traumahelikopter)
  • 03-02 Hedon, Zwolle  (supporting traumahelikopter)
  • 11-02 Grasnapolsky, Apeldoorn
  • 18-02 Mezz, Breda (supporting traumahelikopter)
  • 24-02 Das Experiment, Amsterdam
So far the looking forward. 2016 has been a really special year for us. Let us share some of the highlights of 2017 with you!
480.566 streams
Of course all the platforms where you can listen to us are great, but Spotify is where it all started last year. After the release early februari, Truth was the first track that was picked up by the service and its curators and since then the recommendation engine and all the niche playlists of Spotify and its users helped us getting discovered around the world. The most plays are in the following countries: 1) USA, 2) Netherlands, 3) UK,  4) Germany, 5) Canada. We hope to visit all those countries soon! And we’ve ended the year with a total of 480.566 plays. Incredible!

155 plays
Our very first gig was not in a club, it was on the Dutch national Radio 1, ahum! Thanks for believing in us, Vera and the rest! But it didn’t stop there. We’ve had a lot of international airplay as well, for example on BBC Radio 1 (thanks Hew Stephens!) and 6Music (thanks Steve Lamacq). But the stations that played us most was KCRW in the USA: Truth has been played a 155 times on their Morning Becomes Eclectic channel. Wow! Oh and before I forget … we played De Wereld Draait Door, Holland’s largest daily tv-show.

73 reviews
We’ve had a lot of support from the international media. Blogs (DIY Magazine, Buzzfeed, Noisey, The Daily Indie Magazine, The Line Of Best Fit, 3voor12, etc), newspapers (Volkskrant, Parool, Trouw, Leeuwarder Courant, etc) and magazines (Oor, CJP Magazine) liked what we’re doing. Really grateful for that! It was a total of 73 interviews and reviews. And thanks Claire Lim and team (A Badge Of Friendship), Jake Whitener (Big Hassle) and Timothy Britton for their great p.r. work.

26 gigs
When the first music was released on Spotify last februari, there was no band yet. It was just me, Pip, doing everything. But doing everything on your own is no fun. I’m so happy that we’re a band now with Tender, Berend & Bowie! And that we’ve already played 26 gigs in the second half of the year. There were lots of highlights, but two of them were supporting Canshaker Pi (what a great band!) and touring England (so much fun!).  And we’re really glad that we now have Pien & Katja of Friendly Fire taking care of our gigs!

We released two 7" singles. The first one on the Norwich based Grunt Grunt A Go Go label (thanks Dave & Pete), the second one on the talent label of Paradiso, Paradiso Vinyl Club (thanks Kees, Lisa, Everaldo, Jurry). Really proud of both of them. And do you know what? You can still order them here.

Have a great 2017
Friends, have a good 2017 with great music!
Love from Pip, Tender, Berend & Bowie
