The world is changing fast and not all for the better… Our relationship with technology is becoming increasingly characterized by dependency, regret, and loss of control. This fives us digital designers a a growing responsibility.
This (beautiful) essay tells this story in a very clear way and come up with 10 principles to live by in our everyday life as digital product designers.
As Mike brings it in his new book:
“As designers, we need to see ourselves as gatekeepers of what we are bringing into the world, and what we choose not to bring into the world. Design is a craft with responsibility. The responsibility to help create a better world for all.”
This all can’t only be done bottom up. We need great leaders on C-level too accept this and support this change. Feike Sijbesma (DSM) seems like an inspiring head of office up for this task (sorry, in dutch).
