I’m sitting in my home office writing this on Saturday morning. Full transparency I’m a bit hungover from hitting this Barcade last night in Highland Park so I wasn’t feeling very motivated to make this newsletter. The reason I am though is grit and my weird sense of self-discipline.
I feel like at the end of the day discipline and grit are the things that get you ahead in life. Everyone can write a newsletter when they feel like it, record a podcast when it’s convenient or make the occasional poster for Instagram. I think what separates successful people from the rest though is doing things when you don’t want to do them at all. I would much rather be watching YouTube right now but no.. here I am writing to the 400 of you who have signed up so far.
I’m not here to preach this lifestyle to anyone either, not sure if it’s even the best in terms of long term happiness. But for me, I can’t help it. I have 100% become obsessed with the world of design and all the stuff I do online. I have a super addictive personality so I’m better off channeling that into work I guess than some of the alternatives.
Honestly, I am rambling on and started this talking about the home office… right that’s what I was getting at. I am so grateful to be living in LA and having my own home office to work out of. Commuting and the friction between myself and my workplace were one of the most annoying things to me. Yeah, there are downsides like the separation between work and the home being super blurred, however, I still think it is a net positive.
Don’t have much else to talk about this week, but I couldn’t let myself so just another one of those “Sorry, more stuff next week” type of newsletters. In the meantime though, check out some of the stuff I put out this past week down below.
