From grants for filmmakers to fellowships, residencies, and more, a list of opportunities that artists, writers, and art workers can apply for this month.

Starting April 14, emerging and established writers who write about contemporary visual art are eligible for grants ranging from $15,000–$50,000 to support their articles, books, and short-form writing.

Mid-career nonfiction filmmakers from racially and ethnically underrepresented communities in the US and filmmakers in Mexico, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Colombia can apply for up to $40,000.

Minnesota Film, Video, and Digital Production & Artist Development Grants

This program provides early-career filmmakers residing in Minnesota with either a Production Grant of up to $30,000 for all stages of production or an Artist Development Grant of up to $7,000.

Individual artists residing in Newark, New Jersey, whose livelihoods have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic are encouraged to apply for a need-based mini-grant of $1,000.

This fellowship will be granted to an early career artist with remarkable promise for contributing to a deeper understanding of the natural world and humankind’s place in it. The award includes a $10,000 grant and a 2–8 week stay at OSGF.

The application is open to LGBTQ+ visual artists working in a variety of forms ranging from digital and new media to traditional mediums. The resident will be awarded a Brooklyn studio for six months to complete a project or series of works.

MacDowell accepts applications from artists working in architecture, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theatre, and visual arts; travel grants and need-based stipends are available.

Three emerging artists of African or Afro-Latinx descent working in any media will receive institutional guidance, professional development, research support, and a $20,000 stipend paid biweekly over the eleven-month residency.

Applications are open for individual artists, collaborative teams, and groups of two or more opting to live together for a period of three to six months. The program also offers residencies for artists and their families.

Artists and craftspeople ages 18+ can submit work to this juried exhibition highlighting those who work at the intersection of craft and activism. The winner will receive $1,000, the runner-up $500, and third place $250.

JACCC invites artists of all creative disciplines to interpret kintsugi, the Japanese philosophy of “golden repair,” and showcase their art through a final video. Up to five selected artists will receive $2,000.

Artists or artist teams who have experience in public art and/or community engagement can apply to create a permanent mural in Philadelphia about food and racial justice. The total project budget is $88,000.

Selected artists will receive a project stipend, artist’s fee, mentorship, and approximately two months to transform Recess into a hybrid of a productive studio space and dynamic exhibition platform.
