The other day, I met Gilles.
Gilles is a French entrepreneur living between San Francisco and Connecticut, and the co-founder of Whyd. He visited New York for a few days, which is why we could met in the Lower East Side.
You may have already heard about Whyd.
The Whyd project is a high-quality connected audio speaker with a voice-controlled interface and a sleek and pure design. The smart object has an egg-like shape and exists in five bold colors. With connection over WiFi or Bluetooth, you can listen to music and use your voice to control what you want to hear from different streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Google Play Music, SoundCloud and even Tidal.
While Whyd started their project in 2016, Apple recently presented the HomePod ($369), their home music speaker designed and marketed with a lot of similarities to the Whyd speaker ($299 for pre-order). We can’t tell for sure if Goliath has copied David, or which one will offer the best user experience, but I’m looking forward to seeing which speaker will be the first to come out. Tick! Tock!
