Like birdwatching, but for brand enthusiasts. Links spotted and shared semi-regularly by Caroline O.

Last week snuck away from me somehow, so you’re receiving this edition a little later than expected - apologies. This edition’s theme - ‘the unintended consequences of disruption’ - is borrowed from the opening link, which casts a critical eye over Airbnb. After pondering the disruptive consequences of self-driving cars and tech-punching-bag-of-the-moment, Facebook, we’ll look at the naming trends today’s start ups are using to give themselves a friendly face.
And lest you think I’ve given up all belief in tech’s power for good: this week’s final link looks at one dude’s quest to find love using an unconventional mashup of Tinder and PowerPoint.

Airbnb and the Unintended Consequences of Disruption
Self-Driving Cars Will Kill Things You Love (And a Few You Hate)
How Facebook is pulling back the curtain on Ontario PC leadership campaign ads
Startups are (still) making weird name choices
Pancakes, dogs and jokes: The Tinder PowerPoint profile
That’s it for this edition! Thanks for reading this far. If you enjoyed it, I’d be eternally grateful if you’d please forward to your pals / colleagues / partners in crime. They can subscribe using the link below.
Until next time,
Caroline
