There’s a lot to unpack from my most recent trip to the US so let me start by going over the best eats I had the pleasure of sinking my teeth into while I was there.

I’m not going to lie, a lot of the conversations between my girlfriend and I leading up to the trip had to do with what we were going to eat when we were there. In fact, I started fantasizing about everything I had missed eating as soon as I bought the plane ticket last September.
Yes, it was that serious!
Now that the trip has come and gone, it is time to torture my stomach by walking down memory lane and counting down the best things I ate on this trip.

5. Everything bagel and lox
I haven’t had a decent bagel anywhere outside of North America let alone an Everything bagel with lox. I missed it so much that I had it two or three times for breakfast with a tall glass of ice coffee.

4. Pimento Cheese
Acorn, a highly recommended nu-American spot in Denver didn’t disappoint with a menu of contemporary food that really dazzled your sense of taste. Out of all the dishes I tried, the Pimento Cheese that featured roasted Anaheim pepper and bacon jam that could be scooped up with grilled bread stole my heart and terrified my waistline.

3. Green Chile Queso & Chips
You can take the boy out of Texas but you can’t take the Texas outta the boy. Ya dig? I may have only lived there for 2.5 years but my love for queso was born there will live on forever. To my delight, one of my favorite Taco shops in Austin opened up several branches in Denver for me to visit!

2. Vietnamese Hot Wings
No disrespect to the beef and pork smoking prowess of Hometown BBQ in Brooklyn but their Vietnamese hot wings really shined bright above their brisket and ribs in my book. The cilantro ranch that came with it even took it to another level.

1. Chateaubriand
A good steak was very high on my list and after watching this video, I had to recommend Bowery Meat Company for a friend’s birthday dinner while I was in New York City. The Chateaubriand was the most I have ever spent on a steak and I HAVE ZERO REGRETS.

Excuse me while I shut my eyes and dream about all these dishes again.
Talk again next week?

Before You Go..
  • Recently released Ant-Man and The Wasp (Trailer) is another solid entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ant-Man may not have the following that Captain America or Iron Man but Paul Rudd’s quirky portrayal of Scott Lang makes it a fun watch. 7/10.

  • Have you been keeping up with the FIFA World Cup in Russia? I love watching sporting spectaculars and I’ve been glued to the TV watching as many matches as possible. With only 4 teams left (England, Croatia, Belgium, and France), my money is on Belgium to take it all. What do you think?
