“Man cannot remake himself without suffering, for he is both the marble and the sculptor” - Alexis Carrel

This week I was teaching some web development to recruiters and asked Twitter to give me tips on what to teach.

I'm teaching some tech recruiters an intro to Web Development later today. 🚀

Is there anything you wish all recruiters knew about or simple mistakes?
I had some great responses and just wanted to highlight a few since they could help deal with developers if you are a non-technical founder.

@nialljoemaher It's okay to say to a candidate "I'm not sure about the answer, I'll check with the tech lead after the call and let you know" - way better than trying to BS a tech person and often giving them false info
@nialljoemaher I have only one very simple thing:

Java != JavaScript

I know it's easy to get this wrong, yes, both have the word Java in it. But no, IT IS NOT THE SAME LANGUAGE!

@nialljoemaher That you can't hire any one person to do an entire IT department's work.

@saltnburnem @nialljoemaher few thoughts that i wish i was told when I started..

1. devs google answers all the time. doesn't make them a 'bad' developer
2. just bec they are 'full stack' doesn't mean they can do it all well. dig into where their strengths are
3. java and javascript are NOT the same
A Beginners Guide to API's

I shared this link with them as a reference, so if you were wondering what an API does or what the heck it means, I made this video.
