A dozen links every two weeks for newcomers to web development

After announcing a permanent Career Prep section I failed to include any links for that last week. This week I bring it back with two good ones. One is about Github READMEs. I noticed a while back that all of my Github projects looked all the same- just a directory of files and a one-liner README.md file. So this month there’s a link this month to help you get the most out of your publicly available code.
There was a big hubbub in the coding community around a (now ex-) Googler’s manifesto about how men and women differ and should be in different roles based on their gender. I felt like it was wrong but didn’t have the words to explain why. Another ex-Googler has an eloquent response that I think settles the matter. It’s important to talk about these non-coding issues that come up because we don’t code in a vacuum and it indirectly helps you out too- the more people join in with coding, the more ideas we can share. More ideas === better software.
Be cool to one another n00bs, and see you next week.
