Hello,
This was an exciting week coaching emerging artists like Flying Nomads (Bulgaria) and Vasilis Nalbantis (Greece).
Flying Nomads are part of the
MOST project that promotes the music of the Balkan. The duo from the
Rhodope Mountain area in Bulgaria is creating music for the soul inspired by nature’s magic and beauty. This very relaxing music helps you reconnect with yourself, the deep, and the ancient. When they do not play on the streets, Kristina and Daniel perform house concerts and take part in medieval celebrations. You can listen to “
Synthesis” and “
First Day on the Moon” and buy their music on
Bandcamp.
Vasilis Nalbantis is a trumpet player, composer, and arranger from Greece who is releasing his debut album “
Avoid the Void” with the
Ellipsis Quintet in May. Listening to the music, you shall think it has little to do with “world music”. This is music with a prog-rock & jazz attitude. However, there are clear Balkan, Greek, and Mediterranean influences. The track “
Libation” hosts special guest Dimitris Psonis on
Cretan lyra.
Our discovery of the week was the lovely album “
Eremos” by Italian artist
Valentina Bellanova. Don’t miss it.
Talk to you soon
Eric
