Interesting training sessions
last week with the MOST
project’s Balkan Export Artists. Artists want to learn more about how to deal with the development of their career, and they need guidance – especially for practical marketing & business aspects. Business Modelling for Artists
was not a sexy topic, but I tried to put it in a “grassroots” perspective.
From another side, it was very nice to hear that Ellipsis Quintet
’s debut album “Avoid the void
” starts receiving excellent reviews. It takes a bit of time to immerse yourself in the sonic world of the band. However, it is full of (good) surprises. Maybe not a “world music” album, but there is a clear Balkan edge, and as Kenneth of Artists in The Spotlight
puts it: “ Avoid the Void is a masterful journey through a musical landscape that combines traditional jazz with Balkan, Greek and Eastern Mediterranean influences, and western style prog rock”.
Other good news are the concert of Antonio Smiriglia
under the umbrella of ItalySona
at the 39th edition of the festival Cançons de la Mediterrània in Palma di Maiorca on July 22th, and the invitation to the Loccisano -De Carolis Duo
, the masters of “chitarra battente”, to perform at the Internationales de la Guitare
in France this fall and present their album “Venti”
Palma di Maiorca will be an opportunity to strengthening the cultural cooperation between two islands of the Mediterranean
. Antonio is one of the new voices of Sicily. After the release of his debut album “Amanti, santi e Naviganti"
in March, there is much good feedback, and both the audience and the media are responding very positively.
Next week, we will be busy on behalf of EFN
with the Modal Meetings
that are taking place in Lyon (France) under the initiative of the FAMDT (French Federation of Worldtrad Music & Dance Organizations).
Hearing from you soon!
