Hello,
We introduced you some weeks ago to
Northern Resonance, a new Scandinavian string trio, who are walking their path at their
own pace. While getting some gigs canceled in January, they are ready for their première in Switzerland at the
folk club in Zurich where they will perform on February 11. This gig will be directly followed by their appearance with an
orchestra at the
Winter Arts International Festival of Sochi, in Russia, on February 17. Then, on March 18, they will make their première in France at
Eurofonik Festival – which is another great event in the panorama of European folk/world music.
Luca Bassanese, the Italian minstrel and social activist who slays austerity and isolation by summoning Trans-alpine fanfares and tarantellas in a grand Fellini operetta
, will take part, as every year, in the
Viareggio Carnival with his carnival float. In 2020 he was awarded a nomination as the winner in the category” Best Float Sound-track” for his song
“Home Sweet Home – Save the Planet” (here is the new
acoustic version). He will then perform in Belgium in May, at both the
Labadoux and the Airbag festival. We are still looking for gigs in Benelux and north-eastern France for the period May 5 -15. If you want to bring him to your city or venue, do not hesitate to
talk with us.
The Belgian folk quintet
WOR is quite busy this
Winter-Spring, but still looking for Summer dates. With the release of their third album
”About Towers” in 2020, and their nomination at the
Flanders Folk Awards 2021 in the “Best Live Band” category, they are among the ones who demonstrate that tradition and innovation go well together, and that, out there, there is a whole cultural and artistic heritage (in their case, the one of the carillon players and composers of the XVIIIth century) waiting for some revival. Don’t miss the
Flanders Folk Awards 2022 this night.
There is much going on in this period of the year. I would be pleased to know what is boiling in your pot too. And please send your feedback on
Alessandro d'Alessandro. We’d love to help him spread his music.
Take care and stay safe and healthy.
Eric
