More than four decades ago, authorities found 16-year-old Pamela Maurer dead on the side of the road in west suburban Lisle.
On Monday, authorities announced that using a new type of DNA analysis, they’ve identified a likely serial killer responsible for the 1976 rape and strangulation of Maurer, a Downers Grove South High School junior from Woodridge.

The Kennedy Expressway cap, a green oasis that could be built on a deck over the highway as it cuts its swath west of downtown, would cover that unsightly traffic, diminish its roar and provide open space for a West Loop region that teems with new residents, offices, hotels and restaurants.
The ordinance would give restaurants until Jan. 1, 2021 to stop serving food in polystyrene containers. Instead, restaurants must use reusable dishes for dine-in orders and recyclable or compostable containers for to-go food.
