Why so many Covid-19 variants are showing up now
Mutations are random errors. The longer the virus are around, the more people it infects, the more it will change The more changes accumulate, the more chances the virus evolve to something more dangerous.
As long as the pandemic continues and as long virus continues to spread, it will continue to make copies of itself. So if we want to stop the variants, we need to stop the virus.

How COVID vaccines work against the Delta variant
According to data published on Monday by Public Health England, vaccination with Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZeneca jabs is as effective at preventing hospitalisation in the case of the Delta variant as it is in the case of the Alpha variant.
Two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech jab prevent 96 percent of hospitalisations due to the Delta variant, while the AstraZeneca vaccine prevents 92 percent, according to a study involving 14,000 people.

The Delta variant is serious. Here’s why it's on the rise.
The Delta variant is 60 percent more transmissible than the Alpha variant—first identified in the U.K.—which in turn was about 50 percent more transmissible than the ancestral Wuhan strain. “It’s a super spreader variant, that is worrisome,” says Eric Topol, founder and director of the Scripps Research Translational Institute. It has features that enable escape from the immune system and is perhaps more evasive than the Beta variant (B.1.351) first identified in South Africa, which was the worst until now, says Topol. “Plus, it has the highest transmissibility of anything we’ve seen so far. It’s a very bad combination.”

Well, according to the reports, the initial data suggests that the Delta plus variant shows signs of resistance against the monoclonal antibody cocktail treatment.
However, the scientists are of the view that there is no immediate cause for concern in India as the new COVID variant’s incidence in the country is still low.
