Dear friends,
Welcome to my second issue. . I just completed a four-week online course on “Covering the COVID-19 vaccine: What journalists need to know”. Though I am not a journalist, I believe social media practitioners like myself should learn more about Covid-19 vaccines and how to improve coverage of the largest global vaccination campaign in history. Let me share some resources that you could find useful.
Best.

Tackling vaccine hesitancy
I stress the importance of the message of the World Health Organization getting vaccinated is safer than getting infected. An approach in tackling vaccine hesitancy is by debunking myths or hoaxes in my community through articles and discussion on how Covid-19 jabs work.

Coronavirus Vaccine Tracker
Vaccines typically require years of research and testing before reaching the clinic, but in 2020, scientists embarked on a race to produce safe and effective coronavirus vaccines in record time. Researchers are currently testing 90 vaccines in clinical trials on humans, and 27 have reached the final stages of testing. At least 77 preclinical vaccines are under active investigation in animals.

Covid-19 Disinformation & Social Media Manipulation
A range of actors are manipulating the information environment to exploit the COVID-19 crisis for strategic gain. ASPI’s International Cyber Policy Centre is tracking many of these state and non-state actors online, and will occasionally publish investigative, data-driven reporting that will focus on the use of disinformation, propaganda, extremist narratives and conspiracy theories by these actors.
