Our Berlin-Amsterdam unit are in Austin, Texas for SXSW next week! If you are too, come and join our discussions on March 13th.
We will be at The German Haus
from 2.30pm - 5pm where alongside incredible speakers we will be discussing: Factor Nightlife, How Global Cities Improve Life After Dark.
Following this at 5pm, we will be moving on to The New Dutch Wave
, where will be taking action and comparing global insights regarding the pressing issues facing our cities and music.
Our focus will be centred around the way that gentrification and skyrocketing rent are causing cities to lose the cultural institutions that make them unique. In order disrupt this pattern we need to work across disciplines to raise awareness and empower decisions makers.
At The New Dutch Wave
there will be a presentation about our Creative Footprint
study, a non-profit initiative that measures and indexes live music space. This data-driven cultural impact study empowers local stakeholders to advocate the importance of creative space.
Is nightlife the driver of gentrification or does it create a distinctive identity which so many cities strive for? As music is one of the great drivers of culture in the urban environment, why are music venues often seen as such a nuisance?
With music, there is no integrated approach as often is the case with sport. What can we learn from other industries when designing the city of the future?
Only through discussion and bringing together of ideas and opinions can we instigate change in our communities!
