In May 2017, KEPRO will implement a new process for medical records in the appeals department. Bar codes will be at the top of all fax request documents sent to providers and plans, which will directly correlate to the case ID associated with the case. KEPRO will now require that all providers make the request sheets with the barcode the first sheet of each batch of records that are submitted to the BFCC-QIO. If there are multiple batches, the request sheet sent by KEPRO needs to be the first sheet of each batch. If you have any questions, please reach out to Communications by email,

Fitch Predicts Uncompensated Care Increase under ACA
While the Affordable Care Act remains in place following the withdrawal of a House replacement bill, hospitals may experience increased levels of uncompensated care in 2018, according to Fitch Ratings.
The credit agency points to an anticipated decline in ACA exchange enrollment in 2018 as the source of increased uncompensated care levels.
Fitch stated that the failure to repeal and replace, “means that the ACA exchanges will be ostensibly functioning in 2018, but hospital companies will likely face higher levels of uncompensated care as fewer individuals enroll in exchange products.”
However, Fitch acknowledged that a good portion of the benefit to hospitals under the ACA is attributable to Medicaid expansion, not the exchanges. Analysts expect current Medicaid enrollment to remain stable, but given the uncertainty of funding, expansion efforts in additional states are unlikely.
