Hello, I hope you’re okay, today I want to talk about self-esteem, and how self-esteem and self awareness are not mutually exclusive. Sometimes, in trying to be self aware, we get carried away and become overly critical of ourselves, which in turn makes us hold ourselves in low regard.
In my opinion, it is important to be self aware and to be able to hold yourself accountable, but there is a balance to be found:
We should be aware of the areas in which we fall short but also aware that those areas do not define us nor reduce our worth as individuals.
We should want to improve and be better but not overly scrutinize ourselves in the process.
We should know and try to improve our shortcomings but not hate the parts of ourselves we want to change.
I’ll end with a great quote on this, which goes thus: The fundamental definition of self esteem is your ability to see yourself as a flawed person and still hold yourself in high regard.
