🚀 TLDR;
  • My 2021 in review
  • How I’m Constructing the Perfect Year
  • My goals for 2022
  • (Humble) Personal Update
  • + a lot more!
A 12 Month Transformation...
I went into 2021 as an edu-tech founder struggling to find product-market fit and building unscalable models around cohort-based courses for accelerated learning. I had zero friends in the startup space, no mentors/advisors, and my end goal was to go into medicine.
Throughout 2021, I built web3 startup (before it was popular), learned how to raise startup capital, increased my career experience (fellowships, YC jobs, Facebook/Meta), received a $50K pre-seed investment from a top fund, met inspirational connections from celebrities, to founders, to venture capitalists, and bought my first NFT. But insanely enough, I switched my entire career path from medicine to computer science.
My life did a 180-degree turn, but never have I been so excited about the trajectory I’m going towards!
🧩 My 6 Favourite Newsletters of 2021
I started this year with 0 newsletter subscribers. And now (mostly through word of mouth), I just reached 1.2K 🥳
Here are my favourite newsletters I wrote this past year:
  1. 🤯 Reaching 136K in Market Cap in 4 Hours - launching my web3 startup on DESO Blockchain which eventually reached $500K market cap in 72 hours + lessons learned along the way
  2. 😡 I WAS WRONG - how I redefined my goals halfway through 2021 when things weren’t working…
  3. 🤞 The Only 2 Questions You Need - after countless meetings with cool people I defined 2 questions that provided the highest leverage
  4. 💔 Relationships in Startups - my thought process of leaving everything to go towards my startup while leaving relationships that didn’t provide me value
  5. 🦄 I DREAMT my Future - my fun human guinea pig experiment to lucid dream for 30 days and how to personal learnings.
  6. 📚 I Bought My Time Back - hiring my first virtual assistant (Atul you’re awesome!) and the process to get your own VA

I started 2021 with zero friends in the startup or tech space.

I ended 2021 meeting the most influential young founders + builders in the world

Here are the 50 top people I've met who are on Twitter (+ how they changed my life) 🧵

@MattEspoz Getting to know you has been one of the biggest blessings of the year for me Matt, you've inspired me to grow a lot as a person more times than you know! Here's to more success in 2022 🍸
🚀 Constructing the Perfect Year
I’ve never been much for setting goals (wrote a whole blog about the TRUTH about sharing goals) - I find they vary too much year by year. But for this year, I feel like I know EXACTLY where I want to go and so I want to build my trajectory as that backbone.
Here are the 4 main areas I’m shooting for this year:
  • I will be a Full-Stack Software Developer
  • I will raise proper capital for my startup (equity-based)
  • Be known as the “Web 3” Guy (tokenized book, content, startup)
  • Reaching 100K+ global presence online (TikTok + YT + IG + Newsletter)
🦄 Guiding Principles
Normally I end the newsletter with a quote but instead, I want to give you 4 main questions to set up the construction of this next year
  1. What are the 5 depth defying events that changed me? What lessons did I learn? What did I learn about yourself? When was it?
  2. If you had to teach one thing you learnt this year (that would improve one’s quality of life) what would that be?
  3. What kept you up at night with excitement this year? Was it worth it? Would you want to do more of it?
  4. At the end of next year, if you are drastically exceeding your expectations, what would you be doing?
🛠 (Humble) Updates
Honestly, this year was been very impactful for me.
Thank you to everyone that’s been a part of my life and with me on my journey.
2022 is going to have a lot to live up to, but I’m excited for where it will take me.
