I continued to write about a wide range of themes over the past week: Disinformation; Building access; and, Rural broadband subsidies. As the weather improves, I will be looking to slow down a bit, but of course, as telecom and digital policy issues continue to percolate, I will continue to share my views.

As Canada’s expert advisory group on online safety takes the “next step in developing legislation to address harmful online content”, former US President Obama delivered a relevant address at Stanford University.
I also include excerpts from an opposing view by the director of University of Florida’s Public Utility Research Center.

Recently, $163 million in Federal funding was announced to bring high-speed broadband to 7,772 households in Northern Ontario. One of the projects spent more than a quarter million dollars per household. Let’s take a look at the cost of rural broadband.
