Today’s digest is issue number 50. Thank you to those subscribers who have been with me for the past year, and welcome to the newcomers.

With the upcoming holidays next weekend, posting may be taking a little break, but you never know what might arise in the world of telecom policy; as I note below, one of the appeals to Cabinet has a deadline this week.

While we all agree that internet connectivity is important in the 21st century, not every household will choose to subscribe, and not every household needs (or wants to pay for) ultra fast speeds.
In this post, I took one more look at how Toronto could show real leadership in expanding the use of broadband in underserved communities, investing more in social services, not technology.

Time is running out for Cabinet appeals of 2 major CRTC decisions from last year.
The current regulatory framework is succeeding in delivering better service, at lower prices, with enhanced technologies and services available to even more rural and remote areas.
