Hey Listies,
Why does The Blogsmith exist?
This is a question that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately.
If you’re going to spend a large portion of your conscious hours on something, it should serve your life purpose.
I’ve been thinking about how my business can serve the purpose of making a positive difference in the world.
Here’s what I came up with, to start:
I plan to pledge a portion of my profits towards organizations doing good.
Starting this April 2021, The Blogsmith will commit $1000 every month to a cause that aligns with our values, publicly disclosing the recipients.
And I’ll continue to give back with my time, too.
Mentorship is a major focus right now. I offer 2 free
30-minute office hours calls for anything you need help with, even if it’s just a second opinion.
And I receive mentorship, too. Because I have so much left to learn.
I actually have a call with my SCORE mentor planned before I hit send on this newsletter! I want to get his advice regarding next steps to take with my business.
What’s
SCORE? It’s a
free mentoring program partially funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Working with SCORE, you’ll get some high-quality advice — mentors have some serious professional chops. Just fill out a questionnaire and they’ll match you with someone who has the practical experience to help you.
Just don’t forget to pay it forward when others selflessly give their time to help you. :)
My latest article for The Blogsmith goes a little deeper into what we stand for and our working mission statement.
I challenge you to think about how you can use your work to serve your purpose.
Until next time,
Maddy Osman, Founder of The Blogsmith
