Hey Listies,
Last week marked the end of The Blogsmith Freelance Success Grant’s inaugural entry period.
Once the clock struck midnight on the final day to submit an an application for consideration, I had over 20 entries.
Not bad for my first foray into marketing this type of initiative!
If you’re curious, here’s the winning entry.
I’m super excited to start working with Jackie as her mentor, who seems like a total go-getter. Once I got her the grant money, she immediately did exactly what she said she was going to do with it — purchasing a ticket to a marketing conference that will help her skill up and make new connections.
As I mentioned in my newsletter from 2 weeks ago, newsletter marketing was a huge driver of success with reaching my target audience. All in all, I spent just $49 on one newsletter mention and the rest of these features are attributable to good pitches and good relationships.
Next time, I plan to reach out to more influencers, post to more Facebook groups, and perhaps even put some paid ad spend behind promotions.
I really enjoyed reading everyone’s entries, with the prompt of “How Would $1000 Change Your Freelance Business?
While I came into this process knowing that the cash prize would get people’s attention, I was delightfully surprised to see that these entrants were equally interested (if not more interested) in winning the prize to have the opportunity to work with me as a mentor.
So I’ve decided to sweeten the deal for everyone who made an effort to enter my contest — and have decided to extend this offer to you as well, dear newsletter readers.
Starting today, I’ve decided to offer 2 free mentorship sessions each week on a first-come, first-served basis.
Specifically, these mentorship office hours can be booked for 30 minutes, on any Thursday, between 10:30am - 11:30am MST.
If you’ve ever wanted to pick my brain or are looking for some guidance in the world of content marketing, SEO, WordPress, or something else entirely (I’m fine spending this time geeking out about The Bachelor, for example…), grab a spot on my calendar:
But that’s not all…
I’ve also decided to give each and every person who entered my contest FREE access to my course, Teach Me How to WordPress.
And I’ve decided to change up the format for everyone else who wants access to these course materials.
Starting today, you can access Teach Me How to WordPress for just $25/month!
Each month, students will gain access to brand new course materials, building on the lessons they’ve already learned (with 12 complete modules available from the day you sign up).
That’s all I’ve got for you this time, folks.
After weeks of working on getting my new house move-in ready, we’re finally ready to move in this weekend! I can’t wait to have my own office space, starting next week. :)
xoxo,
Maddy Osman, The Blogsmith
