In terms of the subject line, this is how I’ve felt about all of my responsibilities over the past several weeks (minus promised client deliverables, which is really all I’ve had time for).
Last week, I didn’t send a newsletter because of the 4th of July holiday but forgot to tell you guys about that plan ahead of time — sorry about that!
Then, I missed my own self-imposed deadline for sending my Thursday newsletters yesterday.
I might get down on myself about this but have a pretty good excuse.
I’m home in Chicago helping my dad rehabilitate from major surgery and he unexpectedly had to go to the emergency room Wednesday night. Luckily, as I write this today, he’s stable and seems to be getting better every day — it’s just an uphill battle on top of his planned recovery.
I’m so grateful that I already had a reason to be in Chicago (for a friend’s bachelorette party). I extended my trip to make sure I could be here for my family in terms of emotional support and helping with housework and so on.
And thanks to my flexible job, it’s not hard for me to quickly pivot when necessary. For all the work stresses that come with being your own boss (and being in charge of every company department), this is what makes it all worth it.
It’s times like these that make the craziness of freelancing all worth it.
So I’m sorry, I don’t have any solid advice or business insights to share this week because I don’t have the mental space for anything besides work deliverables and helping my family.
But I didn’t want to leave you hanging and I want to hold myself accountable for the deadlines I set.
At any rate, I appreciate any positive vibes you can send for my dad’s recovery!
Until next time,
Normally I’d end this newsletter by focusing on my free mentorship office hours but this resource to book free office hours
with other powerful ladies was too good not to share.
