As an England fan, there’s a lot to be proud about despite not winning the Euro’s. It’s the first ever appearance in a European Championship final, and the first final in a major tournament since winning the World Cup in 1966.
There is also a lot for us to reflect on. If you didn’t complete a project on time, hit your KPIs - how would you feel if rather than receiving professional feedback from your team you received racial abuse?
Unfortunately, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka have all had to face thousands of racist and hateful messages on social media because of the colour of their skin.
Marcus Rashford shared a heartfelt message this morning on Instagram (read it here) which if you haven’t read already, I would highly encourage you to do so.
Whilst we have made much progress, this really shows how much more work there is still to do when it comes to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
As members of the startup community, we all have a responsibility to stamp out racism and all forms of discrimination to ensure we are making not only our companies but also our societies a place where differences are not just tolerated but celebrated, as it’s our diversity that makes us stronger and London one of the best cities in the world.
