Weddings around the world witnessed a drastic change in 2020. Many dreams of lavish parties, great get-togethers, bachelor and bachelorette parties came to a sudden halt. When the lockdown was imposed the wedding industry in India was worried about how to move forward. Cancellations were made, hotels were left deserted, flowers ready for decoration wilted and many of the planned festivities saw a dead end. However, it also came with perks, couples resorted to an intimate wedding of only 50 people while the rest watched their friends tie the knot on a video call. Some parents heaved a sigh of relief at not having to spend lacs and lacs of rupees on an event that would last for a few hours. Having said that, Mehendi and cocktail parties found themselves being celebrated virtually, tiny windows on the screen of the computer had smiling faces hiding their disappointment.
