Issue #22 - 5 simple ways to win on Instagram

Letters ByDavey
If your target audience is millennials between the ages of 18-34, Instagram is an amazing place to find & build an audience. In my 2 years of being on & off active on the platform, I was able to learn a couple of things that will help you grow on Instagram.
Although, Instagram is not in my focus at the moment so I’m not that active anymore. Either way, this learning will help you irrespective of your niche. So, let’s dive in:
  1. Keep an eye on what’s working in the explore: Instagram is ever-evolving. It is moving from image to video-centric platform so there will be a lot of things that would change rapidly. Visiting explore section regularly will give you an idea of what’s working on Instagram. Although the explore section is personalized for individual users, it still is a great source of reality checks.
  2. Have an intent behind every post you publish: Social media is not only about growing followers. What’s the point of a million followers if you have a few hundred people liking your posts? Having an intent will not only engage with the existing audience, it will also take your posts to newer audience similar to the existing ones.
  3. Be Consistent: Consistent doesn’t mean daily. Fix a few days & content format depending on your comfortability. In my experience Reels is getting the most attention & boost in the explore section. However, since Instagram optimizes the user experience based on the interests, if you’re not okay with reels, there’s no problem. Publish what you’re comfortable with, create images with animations to be the part of reels wave without showing your face.
  4. Get in touch with your audience via DMs: The money is in the list and a list is prepared by getting in touch with people. Social media is to build a network. Remember how we used to randomly send friend requests to people on Facebook and chat with them all day long? Do exactly that but with a business intent this time.
  5. Create templates for fast content creation: I used to batch create content for Instagram when I was active. I had templates ready for batch creation. This saved time for doing the same work again and again. With one template, I used to make the content for the whole week. In 3-4 hours of work per week, I was able to create content for 7 days.
Those were my 2 minutes, I’m sure they were worth it. Feel free to get in touch with me on TwitterLinkedinemail, or Consulting (for 1-on-1 private consulting sessions) for any questions or just say hi. I love making new friends. I’ll be more than happy to help & talk to you.

Use social media to present yourself and your work as a case study to get the attention of people who want to learn what you know.

This will raise questions in their minds and hence the engagement.

A simple formula to grow on social!
