Issue #14 - [Case Study] A family of 1500+ carpenters made it big PAN India

Covid disrupted every living being’s lives, for good. While there were so many things that weren’t supposed to happen there was some good also.
Amidst everything happening, there were companies that made an all-time high in revenue & everything. Here’s one such company that has done so many things right & I will try to shed some light on a few of them. I’m gonna be talking about Saraf Furniture, based out of Rajasthan, India.
  1. Adapt the change: Saraf Furniture was started 40 years ago & it was doing well traditionally. But the modern generation did an amazing job to expand the territories and reach a larger audience by adapting to Google Ads. This idea of adapting became a powerful marketing tool for this age-old business. How? You’ll know.
  2. Create an MVP: To meet the online demand, Saraf Furniture’s CEO, Raghunandan, created a basic catalog & open their factory for tours. This increased revenue up to 3x, almost instantly. Though this MVP didn’t have any direct ROI, creating it opened gates for returning customers. Raghunandan also created a basic website & started running Google Ads. Initially, nothing was right. Now, hardly anything is wrong.
  3. Expand categories: When the whole world was facing recession and laying off employees, Raghunandan hold the fort for Saraf Furniture & didn’t lay off a single employee. In fact, he took care of their salaries, sanitization & immediate requirements. Soon there was a spike in demand for home office furniture and he was already running Google Ads already, he had the manpower to meet the demand. In the first year, the revenue shot up from 4.5 cr to 10 cr, thanks to Google ads.
  4. Cater to new segments: The age-old business that sold furniture now has over a dozen categories and several products in each category. Adapting to the digital wave helped the business to not only expand its boundaries but also take care of the livelihood of over 1500 local carpenters. Furthermore, the company now caters to the B2B segment as well making them the first choice for furniture needs locally & PAN India, thanks to Google Ads.
