Hello !
🐦 Last week on Twitter : an add-on to my CES 2022 article from last week, a referral link to help you uphold one of your resolutions, how to read your privacy report on iOS15, finally soon real glasses for AR/VR, I (still) dont like Quick Commerce, the tweet to save for the year, and the new bullshit job which pissed me off.
  • I’ve tried to understand Web3, and it’s not easy.
  • Permissionless marketing is what I’ve been doing without naming it.
  • Copywriting bible.
  • The future of commerce.
🤵‍♀️ And of course the lady of the week.
Don’t hesitate to reply to this email and let me know what you liked or didn’t like, it’s always and still a work-in-progress !
The big one
😨 I’m taking a big risk today by writing on a topic I don’t understand at all, Web3 and NFTs. But since Crypto-Twitter has been tearing itself apart all week, I dove into the thing and even though I’m not at all sure I got it right, I’m giving you my thoughts to date.
💩 It all started with Moxie Marlinspike‘s post (real name Matthew Rosenfeld), founder of Signal (the app that does the same as WhatsApp but without sharing your info with F̴a̴c̴e̴b̴o̴o̴k Meta) but no longer its CEO since the post (not that things are related). Basically, he said that Web3 was a gold rush, that there was a premium for the biggest platforms, and that existing platforms kept the power (his demonstration is illustrated by the illustration of this article).
☯️ This post is becoming a founding text of Web3. Some bring their contradictory point of view (in a very calm, respectful and composed way) like Brian Armstrong, founder of CoinBase or Vitalik Buterin, creator of Ethereum. Eric Jorgenson even thinks that Web3 networks will soon be worth more than the largest firms. Activate Consulting wrote value proposition for NFT that makes sense (page 49) - disclaimer: I own my first NFT thanks to Hera.
👌 Moxie’s view of Web3 is of course shared by others and can also be read against a fascinating analysis by Ben Thompson (posted before Moxie’s) about how the Web winners (2 or 3) don’t control supply, but demand.
🤯 To discuss the uses of Web3 for brands, there is an invitation-only Discord called Jump, if anyone can get me in ? Because there are a lot of questions, and it seems I’m not the only one who doesn’t understand everything.

🛠 Resources
  • 🐦 Twitter is getting better, but not enough yet. Tweetflix allows you to save, organize, search, annotate… interesting tweets.

Why "How and Why" ?
Keeping abreast of everything that is published today is exhausting. There is too much to read, and as we’re too scared to not read (FOMI, anyone ?), we spend a lot of our waking - and sometimes not working - hours trying to stay afloat.
As I do it anyway (both out of need for my clients and out of sheer curiosity for, well, everything), why not share with you what I’ve thought useful ? On top of my posts on Twitter and LinkedIn, I’ll share with you every week what has inspired me, surprised me, what I found insightful, or sometimes just funny.
Curator is the new creator. I didn’t come up with that, Marie did, and I have utter faith in her trendspotting.
