Next-gen VR. Facebook’s Oculus made good on its promise to deliver a next-level virtual reality headset. Oculus Quest is a self-contained headset and controllers that, like the $199 Oculus go, do not need a computer or phone to operate. However, this headset is a lot more powerful and, using inside-out tracking, even lets you stand up and move around (similar to the Lenovo Mirage Solo with Daydream I recently checked out). The $399 Quest doesn’t ship until next year, but it’s already got a lot of people excited.

Legal trouble. What with Boring Co, Tesla, and SpaceX, Elon Musk has his hands full. So, the last thing he needs is legal trouble. Unfortunately, he’s now got it. The SEC is going after Elon for, you guessed it, a tweet or two. This all started when Elon announced he was taking Tesla private again. He soon scrapped that plan, but not before tweeting a number of financial things that the SEC believes break all kinds of rules.

Rocketman. Elon Musk isn’t the only tech entrepreneur building rockets. Amazon’s Jeff Bezos launched Blue Origin in 2000 and, in the last few years, he’s demonstrated launching and landing his reusable rocket. While most people have heard about Bezos’ plan for space tourism, the company is also pursuing some big space business clients. Now it’s won a contract and beat out a big, established rocket company in the process.

Happy Birthday, Google. I’ve watched Google grow from an upstart search engine into a world-dominating tech giant. I have a bunch of thoughts about what Google did, how it did it, why it matters, and how Google might want to navigate the future.
