Fizzy. When I was a kid, we had a seltzer maker. It was this gleaming chrome bottle that accepted CO2 cartridges. There’s nothing like fresh seltzer. Yet, over the decades, DIY seltzer fell out of favor…until SodaStream. The company and its home brew device let you make seltzer and other flavored drinks at home and with a lot less sugar than, say, a Pepsi. Now Pepsi’s buying Soda Stream for $3.2B. Pepsi hopes Soda Stream will help boost its healthy-drink offerings. As for me, we get our pre-made seltzer from plastic bottles. It’s just alright.

Pointing up. Even in the age of phones, tablets and laptops with touch pads, many of us still use computer mice. Mine is Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse that bends flat for travel. Many other people rely on a variety of mice from Logitech. Now its most popular model, the MX is going vertical. The device takes traditional mouse features and turns them on their side for an all-vertical configuration that the company believes will reduce movement and strain. It definitely looks intriguing.

Watch this. The Apple Watch Series 3 was a nice upgrade from previous editions, adding, for the first time, integrated cell service. What it did not offer was a new design. The smart watch’s look is virtually unchanged since its introduction in 2014. A new rumor suggests that a Series 4 edition is on its way and that it will finally get a new look. Some think the next Apple Watch will be bigger and include more health sensors. In my opinion, 42 MM is big enough.

Google tracking and you. This is one of the smarter stories about the whole Google Location Tracking Controversy. Google made many mistakes here, including how it initially responded to the AP’s investigation. I still believe that they mean no harm, but, as this story points out, there are all sorts of unintended consequences from them collecting this data when they said they were not.
