Happy Birthday, NASA. In October the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will celebrate its 60th Anniversary. As a bit of a space nerd, I follow the agency, but the story of how and why it was founded is always fascinating. In case you didn’t know, our old “friends” in Russia played a crucial role (as did a very brave dog).

Apple iPhone Rumor Watch. In case you don’t know the drill, people start talking about the next iPhone as soon as the last one is released…and they never stop. Rumors pile upon rumors until we’re left with something that’s often quite close to the real deal (or deals). The latest rumors depict thinner and bigger iPhones (for both the iPhone 9[?] and next iPhone X) with lots of color and some material options. What these rumors do not tell you, because all we have is chassis mock-ups to consider, is what will be inside. For those details, at least, Apple is still very good at keeping secrets.

Put the tech on Ice. Technology does not operate in a vacuum. It’s used by all kinds of people and organizations. Lately, there’s been concern about, for example, Amazon’s facial recognition software by law enforcement agencies. Now, Microsoft’s own employees are wondering if their contract with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency or (ICE) should be terminated. Apparently, some of the tech giant’s employees recently presented CEO Satya Nadella with a petition containing 300,000 signatures demanding Microsoft and other tech co’s pull their technology from the organization that has, in some instances, separated immigrant families. Don’t expect this to be solved any time soon.

Social Media Exhaustion. New earnings numbers from Facebook and Twitter revealed a disturbing trend, falling user numbers in the U.S. Why are people stepping away from the platforms? Is social media fatigue taking hold and, possibly, spelling doom for Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms?
