Dyson, Electric Dreams
Doing a quickie today as this threw a huge wrench in my Austin, Texas, travel plans. Now I’m flying out a day early (thanks Delta!) and hurrying up everything I was planing to drag my heels on. Enjoy the clicks and don’t miss the updates from SXSW!

Line up, suckers. Invention and innovation isn’t reserved for sexy handsets. Sometimes it’s used to build the better DadVac, like Dyson’s all new Cyclone V10 cordless vacuum I saw yesterday. It’s got a tiny, 125 gram motor that spins at a blazing 125,000 rpm and, according to Dyson, has as much suction as a plug-in upright.  I gave it a quick test-drive and came away impressed, even if it is $499. Speaking of uprights, company CEO and inventor James Dyson announced that the company is done “inventing” new plug-in models. It’s all batteries, all the time from now on.
Lance Ulanoff on Twitter: "Hands on Dyson’s new Cyclone V10 cordless vacuum. It sucks, but in a good way.… "
Dyson also unveiled a pair of new smart Pure Cool fan/air purifiers that can literally suck the ick out of your air.
Plug it in. I don’t know about you, but my next car is definitely going to be all-electric. I will never forget my Tesla Model 3 test drive. Driving all electric simply feels different. Now Volkswagen is promising its terribly-named, but all electric Vizzion for 2021, and it will have a steering wheel! They even plan to outdo Tesla with a 400-mile range; that’s a lot of battery. Check out the design and details in this Verge post. Want.

Thank us, please. This is a strange story. BlackBerry is just waking up the fact that virtually every instant messaging system owes some debt of technology gratitude to the original BlackBerry Messenger system and now it wants one of them, Facebook, to pay up for patent infringement. Why now? Perhaps it had something to do with this or this.

Get a Room. If you’re a fan of The Room and Tommy Wiseau like I am, then your wishes have been answered. The auteur has a new, horrible film in the pipeline. He wants it to be another Midnight Madness fest, but no one hits “so good it’s bad” twice in a lifetime, right?

SXSW
I’ll be at SXSW starting tomorrow, hosting panels and live streams at the Capital One House and covering the show in general.
Don’t forget, if you see me on the streets in Austin, stop and say, “hi.”
