Sunday Brief - Issue #9

Sunday Brief - Issue #9
By Kieran Glover • Issue #9 • View online
Welcome back to Sunday Brief, this is issue 9 of my weekly email newsletter for creative professionals where I share my thoughts, inspiration, life lessons and interesting reads from that week.
This week has been another busy one. But I’m feeling well balanced as I’ve been making sure to make time for those important things like health, fitness, good food, music, art and good company.
Also, with Christmas fast approaching and as it’s going to be my second Christmas away from home, I’m looking forward to finding some fun ways to get ready for the holiday season.

What I’m thinking about
As I sip on my freshly brewed french press coffee, I found myself thinking about a line from David Attenborough’s recent documentary titled A Life On Our Planet.
The trick is to raise the standard of living around the world without increasing our impact on the world.
Despite the quotability of this line, this is by no means an easy feat. Being blinded by greed and cognitive dissonance are mountains to be moved in our current world. However, I tend to adopt a more positive outlook and focus on one very important upside - the power and ability to vote with our dollars.
In the things we buy and invest in, we have a collective power to push the products, services and brands that generally do good. So with that said, I want to re-visit and refresh one of my earlier blog posts this year - Sustainably investing - My stock picks for 2020 and beyond. Now coined as ESG investing, younger investors are seeking out stocks that can provide them with a healthy return and a clear conscience.
  • Covanta Holdings - Develops and operates facilities across America, Europe and China that produce electricity from waste, recover metals from the waste stream for recycling, and provide other industrial waste management services.
  • iShares Global Clean Energy ETF - iShares Global Clean Energy ETF is a fund that focuses solely on exposure to companies that produce energy from solar, wind, and other renewable sources.
  • Xylem - Provides equipment and services that address the full water cycle, from collection to distribution and use, to the return of water to the environment.
  • Beyond Meat- Hitting all the headlines since it’s IPO sky rocket, Beyond Meat’s 52-Week range is approximately 50$-240$, based on that the previous close price of around 128$ put’s Beyond Meat slap-bang in the middle of the range with huge potential upside and downside based on that range alone.
  • Johnson Controls International PLC - A tech company providing products, services and full solutions to optimize energy and operational efficiency in buildings.
If you’re in the UK or have a UK address, this mini ESG portfolio is public so you can invest with your own funds.
